Completed books are due back to school NO LATER than Friday, April 24th. Late entries will not be able to be judged.
• Any topics are okay, any format is okay, as long as the content is original. Participants may either hand write their stories and draw illustrations directly in the books, or may use the computer if they desire, or do a combination of both.
• Parents can encourage authors to start early to give themselves time, make an outline to help plan out the story, and parents may review the writing checklist with the authors. Parents can also draw lines, if needed, for younger students that need help writing straight across a blank page. However, all work must then be done by the children. Parents should not type or write the story and edit it, and should not create the artwork.
• Please be certain the authors name, grade level, and teacher's name are labeled inside the front cover. Once completed, you may want to place the book in a plastic bag prior to sending back to school. This may prevent backpack/water bottle spills or other issues in transit.
• All completed books will be evaluated in the contest by a group of judges. All students will receive a ribbon, and students will have the opportunity to read their piece in class if they desire.

A Note from Mrs. Kanak
Dear Bobcat Families: Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. Our school uses the Kagan structures to make sure that all students are actively engaged in learning. I have already used these proceeds to purchase 20 licenses for the Kagan Timer Tools for our teachers. The library uses this money from the book fairs to purchase items the district does not provide. I would like to say ... read full article
